What Is This For?

This application is for AIM® clients version 6 and above released by AOL from 2006-2009.

What Does It Do?

Lets you start and terminate the AIM® client processes with one button, restore the aim: url handler to the selected client, recover a lost desktop shortcut, and access the various folders where the client is installed or keeps data. This is an excellent tool for developing and debugging AIM Plugins.

    • Run the AIM client with the AMO_TRACE_ENABLE environment set for debugging AMO plugins
    • Add any number of alternate locations and pick them from a combo box.
    • One button access to selected client's folders
    • Terminate all processes running from the selected client's path and sub-folders
    • Force aim: URLs to be handled by the selected client
    • Alter the host and port settings. Any number of host:port combinations will be saved in the combo box.
    • Clear the auto sign in flag for all identities.
    • Specify optional command line arguments to be sent to the client when run.
    • Run the selected client and configuration. (Also saves the data entered in this tab.)
  • Automatically checks for updates.
  • Written in C++ using COM, ATL, and WTL

  • 128MB RAM (It is highly recommended that you get at least 256MB)
  • You will need a compatible AIM® client from AOL such as AIM® 6.x
  • At least 2 MB of disk space

Installation Instructions

How do I install and activate this software?
  1. Download the IM Control Panel installer using the link provided after you register.
  2. Install the IM Control Panel by running the installer.
  3. Launch the IM Control Panel application via the desktop shortcut.
  4. You should see a product activation dialog
    Enter the E-mail and Code parameters of your Activation Key.
What is OCP?
This is an evolving AOL core technology that stands for "Open Client Platform". AIM® Triton is built on top of this. AIM® 6.x is also built using this technology but is installed in its own directory.
