A number of you have communicated with me indicating that you are seeing the “Disclose idle preference is off. Idle Lock is disabled.” message pop up when you sign in to AIM and don’t know how to enable this.

Idle Lock requires that you disclose your idle status to others. This is a privacy preference in AIM.
To enable this, open the AIM Settings window by pressing F7 from the Buddy List.
Click on the Privacy tab. Then, at the bottom, make sure the “I am idle” option is checked in the “Allow others to see:”… section.

Click on Save, if you made any changes.
Idle Lock should now be available for use. Press the hot key (CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+I is the default) to toggle it.
I’m a little confused, as I have only just stumbled upon your website… but this current post.. Is this in regards to an AIM 6.1 Fake Idle.. Or Idler? I’ve been looking for one since the current version of AIM was released, but have been unable to place my thumb on one.
Thanks for your time and cooperation.
K.
Nevermind, I figured it out. Sorry to waste your time =) Great program, good job on all the hard work!
Is there a plugin that you know of for aim 6.5 that allows you to completely hide ims while away like in one of the older versions of aim (I think it’s 5.9) I really need to find a way to do this, or go back to using the old one because the people i live with tend to read the im’s i get when they just pop up on the screen like that!
yo, hey.. my thing doesnt work… i press all of dem buttons at da same time nd it dont go idle?? wuz up wit dat? nd if ders a plugin i gots 2 install can u please link me 2 it cuz i cant find it… thank yu 4 yah time .. peace
go back to your rx-plugin options and make sure that idle lock IS enabled, make sure that you have the correct hotkeys noted, and make sure that your online time is not exceeding your idle time. If that still does not work try opening an IM and typing:
/idle
comment back pack ;P.
i’m using aim 6.9 beta right now and my allowed other people to see that i am idle and also it is enabled on the settings option. yet it still doesn’t go idle. any suggestions what it may be?
well that’s probably because it’s a new aim beta and gus would have to release an update for it to work with it.
Hi Anson and Spartan, Idle lock should still be working w/o changes in AIM 6.9. I have not heard of any wide-spread problems with it for a while now.
